Lil Miss : Recommends

I just received a baby shower invitation in my email from my aunt. My cousin is having a baby this summer and my aunt is throwing her a baby shower. I’m kind of excited for her, but she’s only like 19, so I know things aren’t going to be easy for her. I was thinking about whether or not I’m going to go to the baby shower and I doubt that I will. I’m assuming most of the guests will be around her age and maybe even younger.

Now that I’m in my late 20s I just don’t have much in common with girls her age. Whether I go or not I’m definitely going to get her a shower gift. Hopefully she went around the baby store with one of those barcode scanners and scanned some stuff for her registry. I really don’t want to try and guess what she needs!

I’m not really a big fan of the spring and summer months, but it doesn’t look like I’m going to have much of a choice. Today was so warm and I know it’s only going to get worse as the months go by. I’m not looking forward to that. There is nothing that I really like about the warm months. The only good thing about it being hot out is that there is no snow on the ground. That’s it.

I’m not really a beach person since I can’t swim, so I spend most of the summer trying to dodge the sun. That’s boring! I also hate that no one wear clothes during the summer. Well, at least not the girls! I’m sorry, but I can’t be a part of that trend. I typically spend my summer in summer dresses and t shirts and shorts. I like to keep myself respectably covered! ;]

I think genetics, DNA and stuff of that sort is really funny. It’s amazing how the same two people can have more than one child and they can come out completely different. My cousin has twin boys and when they were born one was really light and pale and the other was really dark. Weird. To give you an idea of their complexions, one was the color of vanilla frosting and the other was the color of chocolate frosting. Like literally!

But now, they are nearly the same complexion! I don’t know how that happened. It’s so odd! I guess that’s the same way you can have a girl who is hairier than her brother. I’ve seen that too. A girl who grows a light mustache, but her brother doesn’t get one at all. Either that’s a low testosterone symptom or genetics again. It’s all pretty interesting though.

I was just reading the People magazine website and like three of the top stories were about mommies and babies. The first story was about my darling Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order: SVU adopting a little baby. Sidebar: that baby is too cute! The second story was about my darling Mariah Carey showing her pregnant belly on the cover of a magazine, and the third story was about Tina Fey of 30 Rock being pregnant with her second child!

If you ever browse the People website you’d be surprised by how many celebrities are pregnant right now. There are tons of mother and baby gifts being purchased in Hollywood! It really makes me want to get married and have a little one. Looking at baby clothes will do that to you!
