Lil Miss Info: I’ve been a fan of Forest Whitaker ever since his great performance as “Maddog” in one my favorite movies of all time, “Jason’s Lyric“. He’s really an exceptional actor. If you want to know just how great he is, I suggest you rent or buy “The Last King of Scotland“. This is the movie that earned Forest an Oscar for best actor at the 2007 Academy Awards. This movie was released on DVD April 17, 2007.
This movie is based on the events of the brutal Ugandan dictator Idi Amin’s regime as seen by his personal physician during the 1970s.
Plot Synopsis: In the early 1970s, Nicholas Garrigan, a young semi-idealistic Scottish doctor, comes to Uganda to assist in a rural hospital. Once there, he soon meets up with the new President, Idi Amin, who promise a golden age for the African nation. Garrigan hits it off immediately with the rabid Scotland fan, who soon offers him a senior position in the national health department and becomes one of Amin’s closest advisers. Read more »
