Lil Miss : Recommends

I haven’t yet heard the new police cd, which is surprising because I am a fan of them. I really don’t have one favorite song by The Police, because I have a few favorites. But if I had to pick my two favorites, they would Roxanne and Every Breath You Take. Trust me, picking just two is hard, especially once you see the 28, yes 28, songs that are available on their new 30th anniversary double album. But those are my favorites on the police cd that’s out now.

It’s crazy to think that The Police have been around that long. It’s funny, because my mother grew up listening to them and now I’m listening to them. That really says a lot about them and the kind of music that they make. They really do have amazing staying power. It’s also great that their music is still so relevant. Their music is timeless. When I listen to Roxanne and Every Breath You Take, I can’t tell those songs were recorded. Can you believe that Roxanne was released in 1978!!! I wasn’t even born then. And Sting still performs that song to this day and people go wild.

Now, artists of my generation are doing their own versions of The Police songs. They even perform them on American Idol. That goes to show how great their influence has been on people, musicians and pop culture in general.
