Examine Your Source
Date : September 17th, 2008Lately I’ve been thinking about the media and how I have a serious love/hate relationship with it. I hate that the media gets to decide how information is delivered to me. If they like someone or feel that a positive slant on a story is most profitable that’s the spin that you’ll receive. If it’s the opposite, you’ll usually get a negative spin. I hate that. I at least expect the media to be impartial, but nope!
It’s the same thing with celebrities. The media a lot of the time portray this party life as something cool and happening but as soon as a celebrity becomes addicted to drugs and ends up in a drug rehab they’re ready to throw them under the bus. And even with that, certain celebrities get a more positive light shined on them when they enter a alcohol or drug treatment program.
I guess that’s why I try to get my news from different sources and then form my opinions based off of that. You can’t really rely on the news to tell you 100% of the truth. That’s why it’s good to also read and discover things for yourself. At the end of the day you have to keep in mind that the media is driven by financial gain, so you have to always examine your source!
