The Computer Suits Me…

I just finished watching a few episodes of one of my favorite old television shows on my computer. I love being able to watch all types of shows and movies on my computer. My computer monitor is about the same size as my television set but I definitely prefer watching things on the computer. I haven’t turned my television on in over 8 months. Last year I was really interested in purchasing a new flat screen TV, but then I realized that I could just watch everything online instead. I haven’t watched my TV since.

The only downside to watching things on the computer is that I can’t fall asleep with the TV on. And I also have to keep the mouse close at all times in case the screen goes idle. But other than that I wouldn’t trade the computer for anything. I’d still like to get a new LCD TV one day, but I’m definitely not as much in a hurry as I used to be.

The Weight Cycle…

I’m starting to hate surfing the Internet as much as I used to hate seeing commercials at night while watching television. There are always so many weight loss ads. It’s funny because there are just as many food ads. I think it’s a conspiracy because I usually see the weight loss ads right after I see the food ads. It’s like they make you want food and then when you give into the temptation they tell you that you’re fat and need to lose weight. What’s up with that?!

I know it’s not a coincidence. Every time I see an ad for food I get hungry and run to the kitchen to get a snack. Then by the time I start enjoying the food, here comes an ad for some weight loss product or supplement like Lipofuze. I immediately start feeling horrible that I ate the snack and I beat myself up for the rest of the night. It’s a vicious weight cycle!

Commercial TV Free…

I can’t believe it’s been over six months since I’ve watched an actual television set. I love watching my favorite movies and television shows online. I’ve been subscribing to a few different services and I couldn’t be happier. Sometimes I have to wait to see the things that I want to watch, but I really don’t miss TV. There was never anything on television. Even when I had cable I couldn’t find anything to watch. It’s disappointing to have one to five shows to watch a month out of the hundreds of shows and channels. It was a waste of money paying for that. Now I just subscribe to websites that let me watch things that they don’t even show on television anymore.

The other good thing about watching shows and movies online is that I never have to worry about commercials. Of course when I watch free things online I’ll see an occasional ad for something like enzyte, but even that’s not too bad since it doesn’t happen very often!

It’s Captivating!!!

If you’ve never stayed up all night for several night in a row, you probably haven’t noticed this, but late night infomercials are soooo funny. They sell the craziest things at night. And the people hosting the infomercials always have these really insane personalities that captivate you. Sometimes I will sit there for 30 minutes listening to someone talking about how a knife can cut a piece of wood. It’s not that I’m so interested in the knife, it’s just captivating.

I can even sit there for 30 minutes listening to someone talking about acne cream when I don’t have acne. Weird. I’ve even found myself watching those infomercials that talk about those special treatments for men. Ahem!! Or the ones with crazy claims about cures for illnesses I’ve never even heard of. I’m convinced that infomercials prey on people who are half asleep and have no idea what they’re watching or ordering. Why else would someone not trying to lose weight want to see diet pills reviewed for 30 minutes? It’s captivating!!!
